Whistle-Stop Trade Days Clarendon, Texas

This guy sits on the roof and was one of the first things I saw.

Some of the best places I find are from whizzing by, catching something in the corner of my eye, and turning around to go back.  I’ve learned you should always stop when a place intrigues you because it may be the best stop you make that day.  Exactly that happened when I came across Whistle Stop Flea Market Days in Clarendon, Texas in early December 2024. 

As soon as I pulled into the driveway I knew I had made a good decision.  First, there was so much stuff and the building seemed large, so I was guaranteed an entertaining pause from driving.  The parking lot was full of fun from life size giraffe and horse statues, to tin pigs in a makeshift pen, more antique farming equipment than I have ever seen all together, and more.

Entering the store, I was immediately greeted by two delightful women, one being the owner, and her delightful dog.  Betsy was invited in, but I explained we were traveling and Betsy needed to rest her little legs.  Per usual, I inserted myself into their conversations and developed quite a rapport in a very short amount of time. I can’t remember what we were talking about, but I do know I was very entertained, and we all were laughing.  

The store was AMAZING! I actually admitted I would beg for a job if I lived in the area. Out of all the antique stores I have been to in my lifetime, Whistle-Stop Trade Days is definitely #1.  

The amount of goods was astonishing, but not surprising considering how many buildings they had.  There are two large buildings with several outbuildings and a huge outdoor area in the back.  

Antiques of all types were harmoniously combined throughout each area.  I saw glassware, china, books, dolls, decor, holiday goods, light fixtures, art, tools… Everything you could imagine and more were displayed most often in a whimsical fashion that made me grin ear to ear the whole time I was in the store.
